Abstract
Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition that causes pain, sleep disturbances, fatigue, and other symptoms. Integrative and Complementary Practices (ICPs) are therapeutic resources that aim to stimulate natural mechanisms for disease prevention, health promotion, and recovery. In Brazil, these therapies have been legitimized through the National Policy of Integrative and Complementary Practices (NPICP). In this context, this article aims to highlight the importance of Acupuncture and Ozonotherapy as complementary treatments for pain relief in fibromyalgia patients, while also emphasizing the role of the pharmacist in the context of integrative practices. It is a descriptive and documentary literature review, based on sources such as Scielo, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Lilacs. Scientific articles published in the last six years were used, focusing on DeCS descriptors, including Complementary Therapies, Non-pharmacological Treatment, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain, Acupuncture, Ozonotherapy, and Pharmacist. It was observed that the pharmacist can emphasize a patient-centered approach by utilizing integrative therapies, promoting well-being. Studies indicate that Ozonotherapy and Acupuncture can be widely applied in fibromyalgia treatment with few side effects and reduced costs, contributing to an improved quality of life for patients. In conclusion, the results of this study reinforce the idea that these therapeutic approaches assist fibromyalgia patients by activating the immune system, reducing the sensation of fatigue, and providing pain relief. Moreover, these therapies stimulate the Central Nervous System (CNS), increasing the production of anti-inflammatory substances such as endorphins and serotonin
