Abstract
This study aims to outline the epidemiological profile of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination among young people aged 9 to 14 years in the quilombola community of Estância-SE. The project was initially carried out in partnership with the residents' association of the quilombo and later expanded to involve the local family health unit and the nearest school with the highest number of individuals within the target age group. This is an epidemiological, observational, and descriptive study with a quantitative approach, focusing on HPV vaccination in 2024. The data were collected through an audit of vaccination records of students in the target age range at the Gilberto Amado Quilombola State School. The results revealed a lower-than-expected HPV vaccination rate, along with a lack of knowledge about the subject. To address this, a health education session was conducted to enhance understanding of the topic, emphasizing modes of transmission, signs and symptoms, and preventive measures for the target audience. The initiative also informed about the available support services within the community itself.
