EFEITO DA ESTIMULAÇÃO ELÉTRICA NERVOSA TRANSCUTÂNEA NA REGIÃO PARASACRAL NA BEXIGA HIPERATIVA
Abstract
Introduction: The overactive bladder is a type of urinary incontinence and is defined as a syndrome caused by malfunction of the lower urinary tract that affects about 15% of men and 40% of women. It can be caused by several factors and its symptoms are nocturia and in some cases, urgency. Objective: this study seeks to analyze, through a bibliographic survey, the effect of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) in the parasacral region in the overactive bladder. Methodology: the study is a literature review that aims to analyze previous articles that prove the effectiveness of the intervention and help in the development of the research, to be carried out, six articles were analyzed, based on the inclusion criteria, among the years 2015 and 2020, in the databases: PubMed, Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) and Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (Lilacs). Results and Discussion: For a better analysis of the articles, a table was created containing the information about author / year, title, objectives, methodology, results and conclusion for a better understanding of the study. From that, it was possible to notice that generally TENS brings good results in the treatment of overactive bladder when there are no associated pathologies, it is used over twenty sessions and depending on the parameters used in the device. Conclusion: It is concluded that the use of TENS for this syndrome tends to be the best intervention since it does not lead to side effects, and can be associated with other types of treatment, such as behavioral therapy, for better results.Downloads
