AUTISM: DEALING WITH CARE DIFFICULTIES AND PERSPECTIVES

Abstract

Introduction: Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is characterized by behavioral changes, psychomotor skills and social interaction, restricting the child's normal development, being noticeable by the age of two. Usually they create a mute of them, they live towards repetitive routines, being aggressive when there is change of such routines. Methodology: integrative literature review, conducted in March and April of 2018, updated January 2021. Based on the search for scientific studies from the Virtual Health Library, 14 articles answered the objective and composed the final sample. The main themes were drawn into two categories: category 1 reality and conflicts: difficulties faced by the family in the diagnosis of autism and category 2, dealing with autism: Nurse x family Results: The search resulted in 286 articles distributed in the databases MEDLINE (86,7%), SCIELO (5,9%), LILACS (3,8%) and BDENF (3,8%). After applying the first filter (year), the number reduced to 105 articles. Then, the titles and abstracts were read and the second filter (exclusion criteria) was applied. We excluded 15 studies, and after exhaustive reading, it was verified that 18 articles responded to the objective of this study and composed the final sample of the review. Final considerations: This integrative review aimed to identify publications of articles in three national and international autism databases, three of which were used, family conflicts with diagnosis and the nurse as a care mentor, a very low percentage of national publications were identified in the last ten years on Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The scarcity of national publications instigated the search for international English-language articles, thus enriching the content of the present study. Keywords: Nursing; autistic disorder; family.
