ELEMENTOS DE FUNDAÇÃO: INDICAÇÃO DE APLICAÇÃO PARTINDO DO PRÉ-PROJETO
Abstract
Foundations play a fundamental role in construction as they are responsible for safely and efficiently transmitting the loads of a building's structure to the ground. Thus, their main function is to distribute the weight of the construction evenly on the soil, ensuring the stability and safety of the entire structure. Given these concepts, this research started with the question: Are there criteria for choosing/adopting a foundation based on the number of floors in the building? That said, the general objective of this article is to present in a simple and practical way criteria for choosing the foundation element to be used for a construction considering only a preliminary project, environmental conditions, and the number of floors in the building. Consequently, the fundamental concepts related to the classification and selection of foundation elements were reviewed, providing a solid theoretical basis for the discussions that were brought forth. Finally, it can be affirmed that the research highlights the importance of a conscious and technical approach in choosing the foundation element from the initial stages of the project, optimizing resources and ensuring structural safety. Analogously, this work contributes to the systematization of selection criteria, providing a valuable tool for professionals seeking guidance in making fundamental decisions in civil engineering projects.
