Abstract
This article aims to outline the epidemiological profile of individuals with DOPM treated at a reference center for oral lesions in Bahia, Brazil. This is a descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional study. To compose the population of this study, the non-probability sampling technique was used, for convenience. Therefore, individuals with oral disorders who were receiving care at the Oral Lesions Reference Center of the State University of Feira de Santana, between the period 2021 and 2023, were included in the study. With the data in hand, we proceeded with the descriptive analysis using SPSS software, version 22.0. Two hundred and seventy-five individuals made up the final sample of this research. The majority were male (52.7%), of brown color/race (44.4%) and did not have the habit of drinking alcohol or smoking. The most prevalent lesion was actinic cheilitis (47.6%), followed by leukoplakia (26.5%). Unprotected sun exposure was the most prevalent condition (65.8%) among individuals with the disorders. Actinic cheilitis was the disorder with the highest number of cases found in the sample, this result can be justified by the high level of solar radiation in the region where the research was carried out. The most prevalent color/race was brown, which can be explained by the prevalence of these in the Bahia region.
