ABSTRACT
The Brazilian prison system has numerous flaws, and among them are the difficulties in adopting re-socializing practices. Therefore, this article sought to discuss the importance of re-socializing the convict through work, so it was necessary to make a cut on the ways to re-socialize an individual, and diagnose the application of the Law of Penal Execution (LEP) in the Country. Thus, the main objective of the research was to identify how resocialization takes place through work in the city Palmeira dos Índios, Alagoas, and the role of the Secretariat for Resocialization (SERIS) for the realization of this convict's right. The methodology was based on the approach of literature review and document analysis, under the qualitative bias.
