Ageism is built in society through the reproduction of stereotypes and the propagation of discourses that are based on age discrimination. The research aims to demonstrate how standards established by society make people's age a parameter for judging human capabilities. Ageism can be directed at people of any age group, whether young or elderly, concentrating its strong lines, especially when directed at the elderly population. The study is based on the following question: How can fraternal ethics and human rights help people and families, society, as well as public and private institutions in combating ageism? This research is justified by the development of studies that promote reflection on the issue of ageism, having a relationship with the capabilities of individuals to promote social changes through the dissemination of fraternal ethics. The qualitative method, of an exploratory and inductive nature, was applied to the research, based on bibliographical references on the topic.
